BOXES of Lego valued at €1,247 were allegedly stolen from a store in Tullamore.

Martin Gallagher (22), 45 Grange Heights, Mullingar is accused of the theft on May 21 last at Homesavers, Tullamore.

Mr Gallagher appeared before Judge Andrew Cody at Tullamore District Court and Sergeant Brendan Kearns said the DPP had directed that the matter could be dealt with summarily, meaning it does not need to go to the Circuit Court.

Judge Cody remanded Mr Gallagher on continuing bail to appear in court again on October 28 next when either a plea will be entered or the matter will go to a hearing on December 7.

Brian Duffy, solicitor, appeared for the accused man and Judge Cody said he would consider granting legal aid if a statement of means was produced.
