Man accused of damaging six cars and two vans on same Louth street

A 20-year-old man accused of vandalising eight cars and vans on the same Dundalk street has had his case adjourned to May 6 for DPP directions.
Robin Curi, Dundalk Simon Community, is charged with criminal damage of six cars – a Tesla Model 3, Toyota CH-R, Volkswagen Beetle, Hyundai I30, Dacia Sandero, Ford Mondeo – and 2 vans – a Citroen Berlingo and Volkswagen Transit – at Barrack Street, Dundalk, on March 19 last.
The defendant initially appeared before a special sitting of the district court on Saturday, March 21.
As part of bail terms, Mr Curi must reside with his brother in Monaghan and sign on at the local garda station every Monday, and stay out of Dundalk.
His solicitor said he had concerns about the accused’s capacity and ability to give instructions, and applied to the court for a legal aid certificite for a "fitness to plea" report.
At Dundalk Court on Wedneday when Mr Curi was excused attendance, counsel said that the report could be dealt with while his client was on bail.
Sgt Richie Browne said that given the level of alleged damage the case may end up at a different venue.
