A man has been refused bail after appearing in court charged in connection with an alleged stabbing in Bray.

Eoghan O’Connell (36), with an address at Dargle Heights, Bray, Co Wicklow, appeared before a sitting of Arklow District Court for a bail hearing.

Mr O’Connell is charged with one count of assault causing harm.

Gardaí objected to bail under Section 2 of the Bail Act.

The prosecution alleged that in the early hours of August 31, 2025, two men became involved in an argument with the injured party on Dublin Road in Bray.

It is further alleged that Mr O’Connell appeared at the scene and stabbed the injured party in the leg.

Gardaí objected to bail due to the defendant’s bench warrant history and the seriousness of the charge.

The court heard that Mr O’Connell had not been abiding by his current bail conditions in relation to an unrelated matter, which included signing on daily at Tullamore Garda Station.

Judge denied the application for bail and remanded Mr O’Connell in custody.

He is due to appear before Judge David Kennedy at Bray District Court on Monday, February 16, for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
