An intoxicated woman demanded a lift from Gardaí when they arrived to deal with a disturbance she caused at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, the district court has heard.

Margaret Fitzpatrick (40), Barrack Street, Dundalk at the time, pleaded guilty to resisting a garda, public intoxication and using or engaging in threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour or words.

Evidence was given that on May 30 last when officers responded to a call they saw the defendant unsteady on her feet. There was a smell of drink, and she was slurring her words.

When Gardaí approached she said to them, “F**k off. Give me a lift now, you f**king pigs”.

Ms Fitzpatrick struck one of the guards on the leg with her knee while he was attempting to arrest her.

She has 14 previous convictions, none of which are for public order.

Solicitor Dermot Monahan said that his client had little memory of this. She was in emergency accommodation.

The defendant was remanded on continuing bail to January 19 for a €100 donation to the court fund, community service in default.
