Louth landlord caught on camera masturbating in tenant’s room

A 64-year-old man caught on camara masturbating in his tenant’s room has been remanded on continuing bail for a probation report.
The defendant was advised by the judge that this was no indication of how the case might be finalised.
He pleaded guilty to one charge of intentionally engaging in offensive conduct of a sexual nature at an address in Drogheda on June 17, 2025.
During an in camera hearing at the district court evidence was given that the man and woman worked together and that he had rented a room to her.
She noticed that items in the room seemed to have been moved while she was out.
A garda testified that the woman was in the house a couple of weeks when becoming suspicious but intially put it down to her being tired after work.
However, she later set up a phone to record to see if someone was coming in while she was out.
On the phone she saw the man “rummaging” through her belongings before he masturbated into a pair of her underwear.
The accused co-operated with the garda investigation and made admissions, the officer continued.
Solicitor James Allen said that his client had €1,000 compensation which represented all of his savings. It put him “to the pin of his collar” as he hasn’t worked since the incident and was on social welfare.
The money was no indication of what the victim endured, Mr Allen added.
Judge Nicola Andrews put the case back to September 21 for a probation report, stressing that it was no indication of what the court was going to do.
She said that the €1,000 was a token of remorse and not intended to put a value on what happened.
