Lois West alleges bullying over Garda homicide data disclosures

By Cathal Brosnan

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Lois West’s workplace complaints over alleged bullying after homicide data disclosures remained under hearing at the Workplace Relations Commission on 5 March 2026.

West said she and Garda analyst Laura Galligan raised concerns about homicide records in testimony to the Oireachtas Justice Committee in March 2018. She told the Commission that superiors undermined, belittled and bullied her afterwards; those are her allegations, not findings recorded in this report.

West is pursuing complaints under the Protected Disclosures Act, the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act and the Payment of Wages Act against the Garda Commissioner, the Government and the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform. The resumed hearing continued on 5 March, and the case was listed to continue on 6 March 2026 before adjudication officer Penelope McGrath.
