Lisa Flanagan seeks High Court injunction over employment

By Niamh Kearney

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Lisa Flanagan sought a High Court injunction to prevent Martin Jennings Wholesale Limited from terminating her employment. The proceedings were reported on 26 January 2022.

On 26 January, Mr Justice Senan Allen granted her lawyers permission, on an ex parte basis, to serve short notice of the proceedings on the company. The matter was adjourned to a date in February.

Flanagan, a receptionist and administrator who had worked for the company for more than 20 years, alleged that a senior colleague had bullied her. She accepted that she used intemperate language, became upset and threatened to quit, but denied that she had formally resigned, as the company claimed.

She said she had told a senior executive she would write a resignation letter, but agreed after their conversation to go home and let matters settle. She claimed that her subsequent complaint of bullying and harassment was ignored. She denied misconduct and sought fair procedures for any disciplinary matter.

This report covers an earlier stage of the case. Later developments are not reported here.
