Krzystof Grzegorski remains on trial for murder

By Orla Quinn

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Krzystof Grzegorski remained on trial for murder, reported on 30 June 2016, after the prosecution closed its case against him. The trial concerned the death of Bogdan Michalkiewicz in Letterkenny, Co Donegal, on 13 May 2013.

Grzegorski had pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to manslaughter, a plea the State did not accept. The judge told the jury that it had to decide whether he intended to kill or cause serious injury, or was too intoxicated to form that intent.

His co-accused, Dariusz Weckowicz, was acquitted after the judge ruled that the evidence could not support a rational conclusion that he was guilty.
