Joseph Foster wins unfair dismissal case over keg allegation

By Aoife Loughran

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Joseph Foster won an unfair dismissal case and €6,834 at the Workplace Relations Commission. The proceedings were reported on 24 March 2025.

Adjudication officer David James Murphy was not satisfied that STL Logistics had properly investigated the matter or given Foster a fair opportunity to advance his defence.

Murphy said the CCTV had gaps and no timestamp, and was not satisfied that the employer could reasonably rely on it as evidence that only 10 kegs were delivered.

Murphy awarded Foster €4,500 for unfair dismissal and €2,324 for four weeks’ unpaid notice. He reduced the unfair dismissal award because Foster had said he could not be bothered reading his employer’s full disciplinary letters because he was innocent.
