This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

John Downey had his bail conditions relaxed by the High Court in a murder case, reported on 21 December 2018.

Northern Irish authorities sought his surrender over the alleged 1972 murders of two Ulster Defence Regiment soldiers in Enniskillen, and over aiding and abetting an explosion. The court reduced his requirement to sign on at Letterkenny Garda station from every day to three days a week, while leaving the other bail conditions unchanged.

A full extradition hearing was scheduled for 28 January, according to the report.
