John Barrett brought judicial review proceedings over the Garda Commissioner’s handling of requests for legal assistance or an indemnity for Disclosures Tribunal appearances.

On 17 January 2022, the High Court directed that his application for leave be heard with the Commissioner’s lawyers present; it was adjourned to March.
