James 'Jimmy' Lammon was found guilty by a unanimous jury of murdering Jason Doogue at the Central Criminal Court. The proceedings were reported on 27 October 2016.
Lammon, of Cardington Way, Athy, had been charged with murdering Mr Doogue in the Greenhills area of Athy, Co Kildare, on 21 August 2015. The jury took just over two hours and 30 minutes to reach its verdict.
The jury found that Lammon was the masked and hooded gunman who cycled to a garden where Mr Doogue was with friends, shot him three times and cycled away. Members of Mr Doogue's family embraced and some broke down in tears after the verdict.
The report said the family would make an impact statement before Justice Paul Butler handed down the mandatory life sentence. Justice Butler thanked the jury and exempted its members from jury service for ten years.
