James Clarke was sentenced to three and a half years, with two years suspended, for child pornography offences at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reported on 14 December 2017.

The sentence was imposed consecutively to his existing term after further images and videos recovered during the investigation were analysed.

Clarke had pleaded guilty to possessing 785 images found at his Mayo address and 1,009 images and three videos recovered from a former Drogheda address.

Judge Martin Nolan ordered two years of probation supervision, citing mitigating circumstances and the delay in analysing the material.
