This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.
Irish Cement Limited’s objection to Shannon Foynes Port Company’s compulsory purchase order was recommended for refusal by An Bord Pleanála’s inspector in a report dated 23 February 2016. The proposed acquisition concerned 37.53 hectares at Durnish, Foynes, Co Limerick, for port storage and expansion works.
The inspector said the port company had sufficiently demonstrated that the lands were necessary for its development scheme and that implementation without them would be impracticable. The recommendation excluded lands owned by Limerick City and County Council from the acquisition order.
