Interlink Ireland wins injunction in parcel delivery dispute

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Interlink Ireland secured temporary High Court injunctions against two agents in a dispute over parcel delivery agreements, reported on 1 April 2020. The orders prevent Joe Corcoran and Bernard O'Brien from terminating their agency agreements and require them to continue operating the services.

The injunctions were granted on an ex-parte basis after the company argued that the agents intended to stop providing services during the Covid-19 emergency. Mr Justice David Barniville said he had heard only one side but was satisfied that Interlink had shown a strong case, that damages would not be an adequate remedy and that the balance of convenience favoured temporary orders.

The matters were listed for a Friday sitting, when the defendants could make arguments in response to Interlink's claims.
