A verdict of accidental death was returned at a recent sitting of Wexford Coroner’s Court into the death of a Gorey woman who died after suffering a fall at her home.

The inquest heard that Cinnamon Blackmore of Hunter’s Green, Gorey, was discovered deceased at her residence on December 16, 2025.

Giving evidence, Garda Barry of Wexford Garda Station said gardaí received a call to attend a house in the Gorey area on the morning of December 16. Garda Niamh Letsome entered the property and discovered Ms Blackmore’s body in the kitchen.

The court heard that a friend Ms Blackmore had attended at the house after becoming concerned when messages went unanswered. Upon entering the property, she discovered Ms Blackmore and immediately contacted the emergency services.

Ms Blackmore’s body was subsequently removed to University Hospital Waterford, where a post-mortem examination was carried out.

The inquest also heard a deposition of the friend of the deceased, Muireann Rush. Ms Rush said she met Ms Blackmore on December 15, 2025, when they had coffee together before going shopping. She recalled dropping her home at approximately 2pm and helping to leave shopping bags inside the house.

The court heard that Ms Blackmore had been in good spirits and had spoken about plans to put up a Christmas tree later that day.

The following morning, after messages remained unread, Ms Rush became concerned and called to the house. Receiving no answer at the door, she used a key to gain entry. After calling out and receiving no response, she entered the kitchen where she found Ms Blackmore lying on the floor.

Ms Rush told the court she immediately contacted the emergency services and ensured that nobody came downstairs.

The findings of the pathologist concluded that the cause of death was traumatic brain injury and a brain stem haemorrhage sustained as a result of a fall.

Returning her findings, Wexford Coroner Fíona Reynolds recorded a verdict of accidental death.
