Ian Armstrong was awarded €64,080 in unpaid commission by the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC), following a complaint under the Payment of Wages Act 1991, reported on 26 March 2025.
Adjudication officer Patricia Owens found clear evidence that the parties had agreed a 10 per cent commission rate in 2022 and that Mr Armstrong’s calculations were correct. The award comprised €57,680 for commission due at the end of the first quarter of 2024 and €6,480 for sales concluded before his employment ended.
The WRC found that Bankhawk had not kept proper employee documentation and that responsibility for this could not be shifted to Mr Armstrong. The commission had been withheld after the company could not locate the original non-disclosure agreement and sought a new one.
