The High Court approved a €185,000 settlement for the three children of Christopher Miley, who died after being struck and crushed by a loader shovel at Behan Quarry in Rathcoole, Dublin. Miley, 31, was refuelling vehicles there when the fatal incident occurred on October 28, 2021.

His long-term partner, Shelly Keating, brought a personal injury action on behalf of the family against five defendants. The case was settled after negotiations, but none of the defendants admitted liability. Miley’s mother and two sisters waived any settlement rights in favour of his immediate family.
