A Workplace Relations Commission complaint by former Institute of Professional Auctioneers and Valuers president Gerry Coffey was adjourned for about 12 weeks after a preliminary hearing on 9 February 2024.
Coffey, a Co Galway auctioneer, brought the complaint against the institute in November, seeking adjudication under the Protected Disclosures Act 2014. He alleged penalisation by the organisation.
No evidence was presented at the preliminary hearing before adjudicator Jim Dolan. He agreed to the adjournment at the institute’s request, with Coffey’s consent. The hearing was told that three days would be required and that there could be 14 or 15 witnesses.
