Gemma O’Doherty was ordered by the High Court to remove videos found defamatory of Beaumont Hospital and its director of nursing; the report was published on 9 July 2021.
Mr Justice Senan Allen granted injunctions requiring removal of the three videos and prohibiting further publication of the statements at the centre of the defamation action. The orders were to remain in place pending the full hearing.
The judge declined to restrain Ms O’Doherty from publishing anything about the hospital or its director, saying that restriction would go too far.
He found that the videos were defamatory and that Ms O’Doherty had no reasonable defence likely to succeed. He also said the action did not prevent her from expressing views about vaccines or Covid-19.
