Gardaí targeting brothers ‘flooding’ North Wicklow estate with drugs
The Wicklow PeopleA Bray housing estate has become the centre of a growing crack cocaine trade, with gardaí believing two brothers have tightened their grip on the alleged drug market in recent years by “flooding” the area with drugs.
The pair, who are described by Garda sources as “dangerous lads”, have been growing their grip on dealing in the area in recent years.
“They are suspected of drug dealing and more serious crime,” said a source.
Both brothers “knock out a fair amount each week”, according to a Garda source, but gardaí believe it is not a sophisticated operation.
“When they are arrested they plead dumb, but they are getting away with it because they have the power to do that. Nobody wants anything to do with them.”
Although they are believed to employ teenagers as street-level dealers, investigators maintain that the brothers themselves remain heavily involved in the day-to-day drugs trade.
It is understood the pair have been involved in several feuds in the area, including one with a convicted drug dealer, which left him fearing for his life.
“There were threats made, which made the convicted drug dealer to go away for a while,” said a Garda source.
Sources also believe the pair are currently vying to be the dominant drug dealers in north Wicklow.
“They are flexing their muscles at the moment. They want to be the only ones dealing. They like to intimidate others and, as a result, nobody reports them.”
In 2025, it is believed they committed a savage assault on a woman following an argument over drugs.
It is also believed the brothers have access to firearms.
Gardaí believe one of the brothers is the main suspect in a recent shooting in Wicklow.
The two men have extensive criminal records.
Local residents say the alleged drug dealing has left many living in fear, with one telling independent.ie : “It used to be safe to let the kids go to the shop before crack started being sold so openly.”
The resident claimed the estate has changed dramatically in recent years, adding: “The whole estate is destroyed. I don’t even walk to the local shop now, to be honest, because it’s constant people coming and going and scoring.”
Describing the brothers as “bullies”, they added: “These lads are bullies, and we want them out.”
