Garda says BMW stopped in Offaly had not been taxed for 527 days

THE tax on a car stopped in Tullamore was out for 527 days, the local District Court was told.
Garda Dylan McGlynn told the court that on December 10 last year at 6.19pm on Church Street, Tullamore he stopped a 2009 Donegal registered silver BMW.
Garda McGlynn said he spoke to the driver, Daniel Daly (31), O'Molloy Street, Tullamore and inspected the windscreen and saw that the tax disc had expired 527 days before.
The garda said a fixed charge notice was issued but it was not paid. He said Mr Daly had no previous convictions.
Mr Daly was not in court when the summons for non-display of tax came before Judge Andrew Cody.
Judge Cody imposed a fine of €750 and gave the man three months to pay it.
