This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Garda Nicholas Keogh denied orchestrating a campaign against a superintendent while giving evidence at the Disclosures Tribunal. The proceedings were reported on 6 November 2019.

The tribunal, chaired by Judge Sean Ryan, was examining whether Garda Keogh was targeted, harassed or bullied after he made a protected disclosure on 8 May 2014.

Shane Murphy, senior counsel for An Garda Síochána, alleged that Garda Keogh had orchestrated a “pincer movement” against Superintendent Patrick Murray and wanted to bring down his career. Garda Keogh denied pulling the strings and said he was exposing corruption.

Mr Murphy said Superintendent Murray had been falsely accused and had never been prosecuted or convicted. Garda Keogh said he had provided evidence and, when asked by Judge Ryan if he thought there was corruption, said it was at a lower level and did not involve criminality.
