Marek Puska and Lubomir Puska were each sentenced to 30 months in prison for withholding information from gardaí investigating Ashling Murphy’s murder. Viera Gaziova was sentenced to 30 months, with the final six months suspended, and Jozefina Grundzova received 27 months, with six months suspended, for assisting an offender by burning Jozef Puska’s clothes.
The Central Criminal Court imposed the sentences on 22 October 2025. The four were convicted in June 2025 after a jury found that the brothers had withheld information and their wives had burned clothes to impede Puska’s arrest or prosecution.
The judge said the offending was not in the highest category and that the actions did not prevent Puska from being apprehended and convicted. She took account of mitigating factors, including that none of the defendants had previous convictions and that they had ultimately provided information to gardaí.
