Lewis Lawrence (21), of Balbriggan, Co Dublin, appeared before a sitting of Wicklow Circuit Criminal Court for the finalisation of his sentence after previously pleading guilty to two counts of theft.

Counsel for the prosecution, James Kelly previously told the court that in August 2025, Mr Lawrence entered a Domino’s outlet in Charlesland, Greystones, Co Wicklow, and used a stolen Revolut card to purchase €5.50 worth of cookies.

A Revolut card and a separate bank card had been stolen from two different vehicles, with the defendant later identified through CCTV footage.

At the initial sentencing hearing, counsel for the defendant, Gregory Murphy, said Mr Lawrence had made “a stupid decision” by stealing the cookies.

He said the accused had been a gold medal-winning boxer before “cannabis took him away from his boxing” and landed him sharing a cell in Mountjoy with his older brother.

Judge Sinéad Ní Chúlacháin said she wished to obtain a community service assessment before deciding whether a custodial sentence was appropriate.

However, when Mr Lawrence appeared via video link on July 24, the court heard he had met with somebody from the Probation Service and they deemed him not to be a suitable candidate.

Judge John Martin sentenced the accused to four months imprisonment in lieu of community service, but backdated the sentence to when he went into custody.
