A financial adviser has won €48,460 after a Workplace Relations Commission adjudicator found her dismissal unfair, following a disciplinary process that gave her no chance to answer the allegations. Caitriona Nic Aodha was dismissed in July 2024 by AFS Wealth Management and Insurance Advisers Ltd, which trades as Abbey Wealth.

Adjudicator John Harraghy upheld her complaint under the Unfair Dismissals Act and awarded €45,000 compensation, including losses relating to earnings, redundancy entitlements and pension benefits. He also directed the company to pay €3,460 in notice pay. His decision said Nic Aodha had not been given the precise details of the allegations or involved in an investigation or disciplinary process.
