Fergus Healy gives evidence on McCabe apology error

By Cathal Brosnan

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Chief Superintendent Fergus Healy gave evidence at the Disclosures Tribunal, reported on 19 January 2018, about an error in a submission concerning Sergeant Maurice McCabe.

Healy said the error was wrong and that he would apologise for it, while also saying former commissioner Nóirín O’Sullivan had not authorised questioning based on the incorrect submission.

The tribunal was examining whether unjustified grounds had been relied on to challenge McCabe’s credibility during the O’Higgins Commission.
