FBD Insurance Plc’s High Court challenge to an investigation into a Covid-19 business interruption claim was struck out on consent, reported on 18 February 2021.

The insurer had sought to stop the Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman investigating a publican’s complaint about its refusal to pay the claim. FBD agreed to discharge certain legal costs to the Ombudsman, while the FSPO said it would oppose attempts to restrain its statutory investigative powers.
