FAI documents ruled legally privileged in High Court probe

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Parts of documents given by the FAI to the ODCE were ruled legally privileged in the High Court, reported on 30 July 2019. The ruling concerned extracts from documents supplied by the FAI and Deloitte Ireland LLP during an investigation into matters concerning the association.

Ms Justice Leonie Reynolds found privileged material in 14 passages across 16 documents and ordered those passages redacted from the ODCE's investigation. The documents included minutes from FAI board and committee meetings between January 2016 and March 2019. The court found that some material in two other documents was not privileged, and made no order on the application's legal costs.
