Eversheds claim against Dunnes admitted to Commercial Court

By Rory Hanlon

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Eversheds’ €1.1 million professional-fees claim against Dunnes Stores was admitted to the Commercial Court, as reported on 12 April 2016. Eversheds alleges that Dunnes retained the firm for several contentious and non-contentious matters and failed to pay fees said to be outstanding. The firm also says it exercised a solicitors’ lien over materials, including planning documents, held for Dunnes.

Eversheds told Mr Justice Brian McGovern that an agreement required Dunnes to pay €465,000 by early February 2016, with a larger sum becoming payable if that did not happen. The report says Dunnes had not paid and Eversheds was seeking judgment for €1.1 million.
