This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Eoghan O'Mahoney was found not guilty by reason of insanity of attempted murder at the Central Criminal Court, reported on 6 November 2015. The charge arose from a knife attack on his grandmother in Dublin on 19 December 2013.

The jury took about 30 minutes to reach its decision after hearing that the insanity plea was not contested. Two psychiatrists agreed that O'Mahoney was suffering acute psychosis on the day of the attack and for several months afterwards. He was due to return to court for further assessment on 16 November 2015.
