Enoch Burke was released from Mountjoy Prison by the High Court on 21 December 2022, after a hearing that day concerning his contempt of court.
Mr Justice Brian O’Moore ordered open-ended release, although Burke had not purged his contempt. The judge said the school could return to court if Burke breached an existing order to stay away from Wilson’s Hospital School in Westmeath.
The ruling ended Burke’s imprisonment at that point; the High Court said he would remain at liberty unless a further court order required his imprisonment.
