Enoch Burke given week to pay contempt of court fine

By Donal Gilhooly

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Enoch Burke was given a week to pay a €23,800 contempt of court fine by the High Court in a judgment on 16 March 2023.

The fine related to breaches of an order requiring him to stay away from Wilson’s Hospital School in Co Westmeath. The judge said the school could take steps to enforce payment from 4pm on 23 March, including seeking orders over Burke’s assets.

The daily fine of €700 was to continue until the order was varied or set aside, or Burke purged his contempt. The judge declined to increase it at that stage and fixed the amount due up to 1 March at €23,800.

The next review would consider Burke’s compliance with court orders from 2 March onwards; the parties were to be notified of its date.
