This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Ellen O'Mahony’s High Court action against a financial adviser and two related companies over alleged negligent advice on property investments was resolved. On 23 November 2017, her barrister, Bernard Madden SC, told the court the action had been resolved and could be struck out.

The case had opened before Mr Justice Donald Binchy on 21 November 2017 and was later adjourned for talks.

Ms O'Mahony claimed she was persuaded by Thomas Connolly to invest €410,000 in properties in Dubai and Portugal in 2007 and 2008. She said she had not been properly warned about the risks and had been put under undue pressure to invest.

The defendants denied the claims and argued she understood the risks involved. They also pleaded that she had not been misled or put under undue pressure, and claimed the action was statute-barred and had been brought after an inordinate and unacceptable delay.
