Elizabeth McCarthy threatened with jail for contempt

By Rory Hanlon

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Elizabeth McCarthy was threatened with jail for contempt of High Court orders, according to a report on 26 September 2019. The orders required her to move her caravan from Cabragh Bridge, Cabragh, Thurles.

The council said she had moved only 50 metres and was parked on a bend, creating danger for road users. McCarthy said she would move if suitable alternative accommodation was available.

Judge Richard Humphreys listed the case for mention the following week and advised McCarthy to obtain legal advice because her liberty was at risk.
