This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Elizabeth Burke was awarded €500 by the Workplace Relations Commission after it upheld her Traveller discrimination complaint, following a hearing on 15 June 2023.

The complaint concerned her treatment by a Bus Éireann driver on a Killarney-to-Tralee bus journey on 26 June 2022. The WRC found that the driver shouted at her daughter and threatened to ban them from the service.

The adjudication officer accepted Burke’s account over the driver’s and found that she had been treated less favourably in the provision of the bus service. The WRC ordered Bus Éireann to pay her €500 for the upset caused.

Her daughter, Annie Burke, also had a separate discrimination complaint upheld, with €750 compensation awarded.
