Edel Doherty lost a Supreme Court appeal on 14 November 2024 over charges of posting photos identifying two teenage killers.

The photos concerned boys convicted of murdering Ana Kriegel at a disused farmhouse in Lucan, Co Dublin. Doherty was among three accused whose cases were sent from the District Court to the Circuit Court for jury trial after another judge found the alleged publication offences were too serious for summary disposal.

A five-judge Supreme Court unanimously dismissed the appeal, holding that the second District Court judge had jurisdiction to decline the cases.
