Dylan Culloty was ordered to complete 200 hours of community service for two money laundering counts at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 21 February 2022.
He pleaded guilty to offences committed in the State between 14 and 19 August 2019. Judge Martin Nolan imposed the order in lieu of two years’ imprisonment after the Probation Service deemed Culloty suitable.
The case involved €43,800 transferred from two bank accounts to Culloty’s account and withdrawn through sterling purchases at An Post offices. Garda Greg Devoy agreed that Culloty’s role was limited, that he did not benefit financially and that he feared third parties. The victims were refunded, but the money was not recovered. The proceedings were reported on 25 February 2022.
