A Dublin rapper and a Wicklow man have been granted bail, after appearing before separate courts charged in connection with an alleged burglary at a property in north Wicklow.

Dylan Kelly (28), of Rowan Hamilton House, Shankill, Co Dublin, and Sam McDonald (19), of Kindlestown Park, Greystones, appeared before sittings of Arklow and Bray District Courts charged with assault and burglary offences.

It is alleged that Mr McDonald, on July 7, at an address in Druids Brook, Kilcoole, entered a building as a trespasser and attempted to commit an arrestable offence, namely assault.

The defendant is also accused of possessing cocaine and cannabis at the home address of his co-accused on July 12. He further faces a charge of obstructing gardaí while they were acting under the authority of a warrant.

Detective Garda Brian Shiggins, of Greystones Garda Station, told the court that gardaí were not objecting to bail as conditions had been agreed.

He noted that, due to the ongoing legal aid withdrawals, legal representation for the accused could not be secured.

Mr McDonald was granted bail by Judge Andy Gubbins on condition that he stay out of Kilcoole, have no contact with any witnesses, provide gardaí with a home address and remain contactable by telephone 24 hours a day.

His co-accused, Mr Kelly, a rapper and social media personality, charged with one count of assault causing harm, appeared before Arklow District Court on July 15 and was granted bail by Judge Gubbins on similar strict conditions.
