A 44-year-old Dublin man who cannot be named has pleaded not guilty to rape charges at the Central Criminal Court, reported on 11 July 2017. The charges concern his then-wife and an alleged incident on Christmas Day 2003.

The woman denied that they had consensual sex, telling the trial she repeatedly said no. Defence counsel disputed her account and put it to her that the couple had consensual vaginal intercourse. The trial continued before Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy and a jury.
