A Dublin man accused of acquiring €3,500 in alleged proceeds of crime is to face Wicklow Circuit Criminal Court after the Director of Public Prosecutions directed trial on indictment.

Gareth Levins (39), of Edenmore Gardens, Dublin 15, appeared at a sitting of Bray District Court charged with two counts of acquiring property that is the proceeds of crime.

It is alleged that on April 1, 2025, Mr Levins, at Churchlands, Delgany, Co Wicklow, engaged in acquiring property, namely €3,500, that is the proceeds of crime.

Sergeant Mick Canavan told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has decided that the matter will go before the Circuit Criminal Court on indictment, which has harsher sentencing penalties.

He told the court that six weeks is needed for the preparation of a book of evidence.

A book of evidence is a document used for indictable offences that serves as the official presentation of the State’s case against an accused person.

Judge Mary McAveety adjourned the matter until October 7 for preparation of the book of evidence.
