Druids Glen Golf Club Ltd’s examiner bid opposed

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Druids Glen Golf Club Ltd’s application for an examiner was opposed in the High Court on 27 May 2016, when the matter came before Ms Justice Caroline Costello. The company operates the Druid’s Glen Golf Course at Newtownmountkennedy, Co Wicklow, where Gulland Property Finance Ltd had appointed a receiver.

Gulland said it was owed about €4.85 million by related company Lakeford Ltd and was opposing the appointment of John McStay as interim examiner to Druids Glen Golf Club Ltd and Lakeford Ltd.

John McStay had already been appointed interim examiner by Mr Justice Robert Haughton. The appointment was based on material including an independent expert’s report expressing the opinion that the company had a reasonable prospect of survival as a going concern.

The receiver was finalising a sworn statement outlining objections and critiquing information put before the court. Patrick Leonard SC, for Druids Glen Golf Club Ltd, said his side needed time to consider and, if necessary, reply to Gulland’s sworn statement. Ms Justice Caroline Costello adjourned the matter to the following month.
