Donald Trump invited to High Court case over fencing at Doonbeg
This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.
Donald Trump was invited to attend a High Court case over sand trap fencing at his Doonbeg resort in Co Clare. The proceedings were reported on 3 May 2023.
Friends of the Irish Environment (FIE) brought proceedings over fencing allegedly constructed by the resort in 2022. The new fencing at the base of the dunes was removed after Clare County Council issued a warning letter and FIE brought a case under Section 160 of the Planning Acts over unauthorised development.
FIE says a network of fencing remains along the top of the dunes and seeks its removal. The group also wrote to Trump inviting him to attend the hearing at Dublin’s Four Courts.
The case was due before the High Court on 15 May 2023. The available reports describe an invitation and pending case; they do not report a court decision.
