Donal Ruane awarded Irish redundancy pay by WRC

By Ruairí Dolan

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Donal Ruane was awarded €20,275.62 in additional redundancy pay and eight weeks’ wages by the Workplace Relations Commission, following a hearing on 1 November 2022.

The adjudication officer found that Roadbridge had paid Ruane under UK redundancy rules, leaving his payment below the Irish entitlement. Ruane had 29 years and three months’ service, including ten months in the UK.

The officer upheld Ruane’s complaints under the Redundancy Payments Act and the Minimum Notice and Terms of Employment Act. Roadbridge did not attend the hearing, and the officer was satisfied it had been notified.
