Don Culliton’s age discrimination pay claim against the Irish Prison Service was rejected by the Workplace Relations Commission, in a decision reported on 8 February 2024.

The claim concerned pay differences between senior officials doing like work. Culliton and two colleagues argued they should receive the same pay as Fergal Black; the State said Black’s higher salary reflected the role’s history and staffing pressures.
