Desmond Murphy’s disability discrimination complaint against GoSafe was dismissed by the Workplace Relations Commission after he sought time off for an MMA course. The proceedings were reported on 30 June 2022.
Murphy claimed discrimination on grounds of disability, mental health and obesity after his request to alter shifts was refused. GoSafe said he had described the event as a charity fundraiser and had requested the change one day before it began.
Adjudication officer Patsy Doyle said Murphy had provided no medical evidence and had not established that he met the definition of disability.
