Debenhams staff redundancy case remains undecided after WRC hearing
This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.
The Workplace Relations Commission had not decided Mandate’s collective redundancy complaints when legal arguments concluded on 3 March 2023, according to RTÉ.
The complaints concern whether Debenhams Retail Ireland Ltd and its liquidators provided required information and meaningful consultation before redundancies affecting between 750 and 800 former staff. The liquidators deny the allegations.
Witness testimony had been heard in full the previous October. The 3 March hearing was limited to legal argument on European case law, and the WRC said a written decision would follow.
