Dean Kerrie was found guilty of manslaughter and acquitted of murder at the Central Criminal Court, with the verdict reported on 13 July 2022.

The unanimous jury verdict followed a retrial. Kerrie had denied murdering Jack Power, who died after being stabbed in the chest at Kerrie's home in Dunmore East, Co Waterford.

In October, the court heard victim impact statements during Kerrie's sentence hearing. He was due to be sentenced the following week; the judge said he had reports to consider and set the sentencing hearing for the following Tuesday.
