David Moore was held personally liable for workplace rights breaches at the Workplace Relations Commission in a decision reported on 3 November 2025.
The WRC ordered Astronomy Ireland and four management committee members, including Moore, to pay former manager Sonya Martin €10,784. It upheld all but one of her complaints, awarding compensation for constructive dismissal and breaches involving sick leave, annual leave, public holidays and written terms of employment.
The decision followed four hearings over nearly 11 months. Martin resigned in July 2023 following a long-term absence due to workplace stress. Moore described accusations of money going astray and financial irregularities as false.
