Dany Boon was awarded €4.87 million in damages in the High Court fraud case, reported on 13 December 2022.

The judge was satisfied that Mr Boon had been defrauded by Thierry Fialek-Birles and several associated entities. The court appointed receivers over assets linked to Mr Birles and made permanent freezing orders against several assets.

The assets identified for sale to satisfy the judgment included three sailing boats, a house in Youghal and funds in bank accounts linked to the defendants.

The court declined to award damages against Sail & Motor Navigation Company Limited, finding the evidence insufficient. Proceedings involving Asia Monaco Investments Ltd and Asia Monaco Sarl, which denied the claims, were due to return to court in January.
